Track Gauges

Design
Henry Williams permanent way gauge has been designed to give direct readings of gauge, superelevation/cant and side rail wear.

Benefits
Top mounted spirit level giving simple superelevation readings.

Spring loaded mechanism with calibrated scales both above and below give the rail gauge.

Side wear at a point 3/8” below the rail head can be obtained by taking a reading between the rail heads as in Fig. 1

Reversing the gauge as Fig. 2 and taking a second reading enables you to obtain the rail wear.

To reduce wear and so maintain a high degree of accuracy, the shaped end pieces are made of case-hardened steel.

The gauge is designed to suit all rail sections. Special calibrations and lengths can be made to order.

Tropical gauges can be obtained to work in extremes of temperature.
