The Company

Henry Williams is a successful privately owned company.  The company has a long standing record of developing, producing and manufacturing electrical and mechanical solutions.  They have specialist know-how in three key business areas: Metalworking, control systems and power distribution.  The company has over 130 employees, and operates from its multi-purpose manufacturing site in Darlington.

Reason for the role:

Henry Williams has a strong presence in the Road and Rail industries and as part of our long term growth strategy, the company wants to develop its presence in both it’s core markets and new ones. We require a motivated individual to not only promote our existing portfolio, but to identify new products and opportunities and be instrumental in bringing the new solutions to market.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take on the role of UK expert for our existing portfolio of products
  • Development of a Business Plan to target potential customers in new and existing markets for our existing products or variants of, as well as identify new opportunities in new products.
  • Review of previous enquiries and customer database for prospects
  • Utilise own network and market knowledge, targeting customers and developing new business opportunities
  • Represent the company at relevant exhibitions
  • Work with colleagues on marketing literature and put in place activities for brand awareness of the company’s products and capabilities
  • Provide market intelligence and feedback on opportunities to the  Managing Director
  • Work with colleagues to produce bids, PQQs and tenders.
  • Act as liaison between production and clients
  • Maintain your own diary for visits, customer meetings etc

 

The Successful Candidate:

Essential skills

  • Experience of selling both standard and bespoke products
  • Experience of selling to large organisation, private companies and government bodies
  • Proven door opening, business development and networking capability
  • Ability to close deals
  • Excellent listener and communicator
  • Self-starter
  • Good organizational and administration skills
  • Experience in the highways and/or railway industries would be an advantage, as would be a degree
  • Proven problem solving
  • Considerable experience of commercial  / sales
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Willingness to travel

Desirable skills

  • Product knowledge

Working Hours:

Core hours – 37 hours per week

Monday – Thursday 8.30am – 4.30pm

Friday 8.30am – 4pm
